You're on a Tahitian beach at sunset, listening to the ebb and flow of the waves as they lap against the golden sands; you're sat on the peak of a snow capped mountain, deep in profound and utterly absorptive contemplation of the Absolute; you're in a Japanese forest, the distant strains of a shakuhachi flute intertwine with bamboo wind chimes.

Except you're in none of these places, you're neck deep in a late stage capitalist society that's crumbling under the weight of rampant economic growth, rapidly depleting natural resources and impending ecological and financial collapse; you're struggling to reconcile the aspirational effort to search for a better way of life when it's apparently slipping off into the abyss; you're just... here.

It's OK. Smooth Chill Radio is also here. Smooth Chill Radio will _always_ be here.

Non Viable Dreams: a tribute to Smooth Chill Radio is just that - a celebration of the ethos behind the station, "to help listeners relax and put stress behind themselves" or as one listener put it, "T'ai chi for your ears".

The last bastion of peak smooth ambient downtempo chill and trip hop that emerged in the early nineties, Smooth Chill radio today has a dedicated base of core followers who have been following the station since its inception in 2004.

Today the station is home to the familiar strains of Morcheeba, Moby and Massive Attack - serving up a steaming mug of downtempo to drown out the horrors of the outside world, a worthy endeavour we're sure you'll agree.

In order to pay homage to SCR, the wider Emotion Wave community have dusted off their fretless basses, Roland D-50s and pan flutes to bring an exceptional compilation of chilltrax designed to whisk you away from Sorrowville and ease you gently into Chill Central.

All proceeds from this release go to James Place.

Great record. wears it's influences proudly ..but retains a sliver of identity that is uniquely British and has a northern feel to it..I think that these geographic musical vignettes are realy evocotive of northern Newtown Uber estates and satellite communities..I hope this translates to a wider audience for him...he deserves the attention. give him his due .NOW . christopherogley
